When we weren't sipping down margaritas or slugging beers, we were drinking some of Bri's homemade, delicious juice! She owns the Rolls Royce of Juicers...literally. It's a $2,600 machine, though if you are lucky you can find a used one in good shape for anywhere between $1,000 to $1,500. It's like a space ship...totally fascinating to watch. Anyways, yesterday she made a Apple Ginger Spinach Cucumber Lemon juice.
- Step 1: You put the hard fruit and vegetables through the top grinder and it mashes it a fine pulp. {You don't want to put the softer veggies or fruits through here though, they go through a different process}. The pulp is then placed in the middle of a cloth, prepared for step 2....
Pressing the apples, ginger, cucumber and spinach through the top....
And you're left with this pulp.
- Step 2: You wrap up the pulp like a present and then place it on this platform. The machine then uses hydrolics to lift the wrapped pulp up against a metal surface and it squeezes out all the juice.
- Step 3: Remove the wrapped pulp from the platform, and this is what youre left with {see below}. You scrape the remainder off and just keep repeating the process.
You're final product is this delicious glass of juice. The beauty of this heavy duty juicer is that you can make LARGE batches of juice - and for those juicers out there, you know what a pain in the ass it is to prep all the veg and then make the juice and then CLEAN the machine - imagine only having to do that ONCE every FIVE DAYS. This juicer doesn't oxidize the juice, so it stays vibrantly fresh for days on end. Cool beans, huh? Thanks BRI for this delicious beverage that makes me feel like I could Fly....
