Debbie hates soy... I hate milk! Milk is one of the worst sources of calcium (red meat being the very worst). It's so high in protein that your body cannot properly absorb the calcium it provides. The best source is leafy greens, and non-milk drinkers (such as the Japanese) have the least cases of osteoporosis. Non-milk drinkers are also less likely to break bones, believe it or not! A study found that women who drank a glass of milk a day compared to women who had none had a lower level of calcium at the end of the study. The dairy industry has invested a lot of money into making us believe milk is necessary, but it's absolutely not... it's just like anything else that you can drink if you enjoy it. Like soy, dairy has its very dark side and is something that should be eaten in moderation and for enjoyment, not for health.
ReplyDeleteI know you said you don't drink a lot of it, but I thought I'd share!
Eat and drink what you want and your activity level and genetics will do the rest. Soy sucks. so do Vegans!
